The finches seem to have returned. I couldn't help but notice this brightly feathered male today. He stood out nearly as well as the male Northern Cardinal.

A three-fer!

I'm birdwatching and taking photos from inside the house today.

Long-eared Owl

I met up with my friend and her 8 year old daughter today to join up with Tom Hurst's Owl Prowl at Holiday Beach Conservation Area.

Thanks to a man named Cory, who spotted this Long-eared Owl, we all considered our hike a success.

This is only my second time seeing a Long-eared and my first time getting photos of one.

A Short-eared Owl has been spotted on Concession #5 between Ferriss & Walker Roads flying over the field and as close as the ditch.

Apparently the golden hour to see it is just before dusk. 2 different gentlemen saw it on different days but at this same time.

We saw it flying in the field along with several Northern Harriers.

A Great-Horned Owl was also heard.

Deer were also present.

It was a great day!

What a treat it's been to see this magnificent owl.

I've managed to get some terrific shots that I'm very happy with and that will give me lasting memories of what is a life bird for me.

Great Grey Owl - Kingsville, Ontario

This is big news in the local birding world.

I was so thrilled to see this bird and felt lucky that I didn't miss it. (Thanks, Dwayne, for the directions!)

I met a couple of gals from Sarnia and after the owl flew further in to the trees, we headed towards Leamington and the onion fields to find ourselves a snowy owl.

We were successful but without a scope it would've been near impossible to have a good look at.

I thought it was a white garbage bag but thought I should have a look through the binoculars just in case.

The picture is horrible but it was a life bird for me so I will keep it until I get a better one.

The books I read in December beginning on Dec 21 and finishing tonight.

I began with Bury Your Dead by Louise Penny and I'm finishing off the month with the same author ... A Fatal Grace.

I deleted my other blogs and in the process of deleting all the photos in picasa, ended up deleting all the ones from this blog too. Oops.

I got rid of all the posts because nothing made sense without the pics.

I took these pics of a Dark-eyed Junco and a Northern Cardinal today in my backyard.

I like the snowflake on the Cardinal's head. :)
